After over twenty years of work as a producer and nearly ten years of making electronic music, Mr. Dé has a sound drawn from a number of funk-based urban sounds, blending them together into a composite whole that emphasizes up-tempo booty shakin' over the more chin-stroking styles of techno. Among the post-industrial decay of the mighty Motor City Detroit, Ade Mainor began to revel in the enriching world of music at a young age, first learning to play the piano from his mother, a gospel singer and piano teacher. Soon he began toying with drum machines and turntables, producing skeletal hip-hop tracks as a young teen. In the nineties Mr. Dé and Craig (DJ Assault) Adams began Electrofunk Records, a label that would pave the way for a number of others seeking to spread the sound beyond the city.

Today, Mr. Dé is recognized as the originator of pure electronic ghetto funk. Whether or not the rest of the world is ready for this Detroit-bred, post-modern style of urban music is an unanswered question, but there is no questioning the fact that Mr. Dé is the most pivotal man in that crusade.

But even that's not enough for the likes of Dé.

Mr. Dé found himself expressing more and more of his musical roots in projects like Renaissance and Holi-Dé, which took elements of jazz, house, and soul and blended them with his sound. The result was a series of tunes that showed the depth and diversity of the city and people who fed and inspired his musical creativity. His live acts follow suit, with Electrofunk Live showcasing the more edgy aspect of city life, while the live performance of Mr. Dé reveals a sound, like the city itself, in a state of renaissance, soul music that makes you smile and want to dance at the same time.
