M-Rock opens for Tony Touch…and more!

Posted by: babu In: News

We could spend a lot of time trying to tell you all the things M-Rock has been busy with, but we figured he could say it best!

Hey guys, hope all you sexy bastards had a great summer.

First off, I want to congratulate my friend Blue Raspberry on being a part of a project that is outselling Jay-Z and Whitney Houston on their first day on iTunes.  She’s on Raekwon’s new album “Only Built for Cuban Linx 2″, the album is solid and it’s honestly all I hear about when I’m chatting about music with people.  Get em girl!

Secondly, I’m proud to be part of an exciting thing happening here in Toronto this Friday. My friends Brad and Boogie Inc brought me in to open for Tony Touch, 90s hip-hop mixtape king, who now runs a house music party in New York called The Funkbox. It’s a concept party - house music with a touch of hip-hop, breakdancing, and most importantly, dancing…

There’s no point in people like Tony Touch and myself to pretend like we just love house - he helped put so many classic rappers on the map, I’ve done my time in the DMC World battles, right?
This event is definitely not about crowding around breakers and watching them all night, it’s just about getting down to some great house and hip-hop music.  There will be legendary Rocksteady Crew dancers including my high school friend Gizmo who’s bonkers and has judged/danced in something like 20 or 30 countries around the world, as per my last convo with him.

Third, I’m at Toronto’s Manifesto festival on Sunday around 1pm doing a 10 minute set with my talented percussionist friend Gurpreet Chana.  Wouldn’t mind playing longer with him and a bit later in the day, a
brother needs to sleep!
I apologize for not having new mixtapes or production or crazy clips with the insanely talented artists I roll with.  I’m currently working on music for a movie about my friend Russell Peters (left), who I’m a fan of and proud to say that Forbes magazine states he’s earned the top 10 highest salaries for a comedian in the world (let’s just say I don’t feel bad for him too often LOL).  More soon, much respect and thanks for reading.
